If you're a Macintosh cultist (I sure am) and are within driving distance of
Madison, Alabama (outside of Huntsville), please do yourself a favor and go
visit Jeff. He was kind enough to let me haul off 8 working 14" monitors
last night. If my wife wouldn't have killed me, I would've spent a whole
pile of cash on some of the goodies he has been listing. When Jeff said,
"Bring a truck to haul off these 14" color monitors," he wasn't joking. I
didn't even make a dent in his collection. If you're in Tennessee or
Alabama, give him a shout. He has a bunch of non-Mac stuff, too, for those
of us who are into any kind of computer.

I would advise everyone to be VERY wary of any transactions taking place with swappers in the Iowa City/Coralville/etc. area, particularly if said swapper is "new" to the list, using a free e-mail account, and has "J" as one of his initials. All (or mostly) lower-case typing and poor spelling are also his trademarks. He usually seems to be looking for low-key stuff like ImageWriters and SEs, stuff that probably isn't worth the cost of shipping. His former pattern (this has gradually changed) was to offer
several systems for ridiculous prices (like $200 for a CC or $150 for a 6200-series). While this pattern may change, it's at least something to look out for.

BE CAREFUL. This guy is ruthless. I have yet to hear any positive feedback about him, probably because he hasn't yet completed any transactions. He refuses to correspond with me any more because I've been the one who tracked him down the last three times he was banned from Swaplist. Additionally, when I banned him back in August (as AGUYNAWHTCAT), he specifically instructed me to go to hell. Somehow, I haven't made it yet :)

If anyone is suspicious of a seller/buyer, particularly one who might fit the patterns I describe above, get his ZIP code and e-mail me off-list with a heads-up.
